Helping freshmen move in to their rooms on campus is a great way to make new members feel welcome, recruit potential new members, and make a great impression on your campus community. See the tips below to help execute a great “Move-In” day on your campus.

Plan for the Move

  • Gather dates & times for Move-In Day
  • Contact Potential New Members in Greenbook/ Chapter Builder before Move-In to help them move
  • Create a schedule & times for when & where brothers will be throughout the day

Move-In Day at the “House”

(If your chapter doesn’t have a house, see “Move-In Day BBQ”)

Make your house the best spot to be:

  • Music
  • Outside games
  • Brothers having a good time

Move-In Day BBQ

Host a small BBQ where the majority of movers & freshmen will be

Make sure you’re prepared:

  • Tent/pavilion
  • Music
  • Free food/drinks for freshmen, parents, & family

Post Move-In

Host a recruitment event the afternoon or night of Move-In Day:

  • Pick-up sports Sorority hangout
  • Yard games at the house
  • Scheduled recruitment event at a third party venue

Things to Think About

  • Identify a high caliber man to move in
  • Ask if he needs help & introduce yourself to him & his family
  • Engage in small talk with open ended questions
  • Get his number & invite him to whatever you are doing
  • Add to ChapterBuilder/Greenbook
