Initiates: 160
Fall 2018 New Members: 25
Philanthropy $ raised: $22,950

Brady Noble ’16 helped make Christmas dreams come true last December when he met Ray, a security guard for an off-campus housing facility. While speaking with his new friend, it became clear to Noble that Ray and his wife were struggling with rent money and facing possible eviction right before Christmas.

Noble acted fast by starting a GoFundMe page that quickly gained traction with the University of South Carolina student body and Xi Chapter alumni. Within an hour, the fundraiser surpassed Noble’s original goal of $350 for Ray’s rent. By 11:00 pm, the GoFundMe page was approaching $3,000. Fraternity and sorority members, University of South Carolina students, and friends of PIKE were touched by the story. An astounding total of $5,146 was raised for Ray and his wife.

“I am proud to say we raised enough to help Ray and his wife pay for over seven months of rent, along with a significant part of the debt he owed on his truck,” Noble later stated.

“We are proud of the initiative that Brady took to help a respected member of our community in need,” Chapter President Andrew Carson ’16 said. “No one asked him to do what he did, but his drive and compassion allowed us to truly change an individual’s life for the better.”

As for Ray? He called it a “Christmas miracle.”
