Pi Kappa Alpha Mourns the Passing of Former Senator Thad Cochran

The Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity is saddened to announce the passing of Former U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (Mississippi, Gamma Iota ’56). Brother Cochran entered Chapter Eternal on May 30, 2019. He served seven terms in the Senate and was the 10th-longest-serving senator in U.S. history. He previously served three terms in the House of Representatives.
Cochran most recently served as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, a position he held from 2005-07 and again from 2015-18. He also chaired the Senate Agriculture Committee from 2003-05.
In April 2006, he was selected by Time magazine as one of America’s 10 Best Senators.
