Alec Harris Recognized as Pike of the Month for May 2019

He has served his chapter as team captain of Dance Marathon, a fundraising event that supports Riley Children’s Hospital. As team captain, Harris led the chapter to its first overall team victory and the title of top overall fundraising organization. In addition to this success, he was recognized as the highest individual fundraiser for the university, raising over $5,000. He has also served as social chair, organizing the most well-attended and diverse social schedule the chapter has experienced in the last four years.
On campus, Harris is vice president of the Pre-Medicine Association. He enjoys working with the Floyd County Health Department to improve community health and gain experience for his future in medicine.
He maintains a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the Dean’s List. He was selected as a rural health scholar, a competitive scholarship program recognizing the most promising pre-medicine students in the state.
Harris will graduate with a degree in biology with a concentration in pre-medicine. Following graduation, he hopes to attend medical school and pursue a career in emergency medicine.
