Posted on May 23, 2018
Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity is pleased to announce Tommy Brophy (Maryland, Delta Psi ’17) as the May 2018 Pike of the Month. Pike of the Month award recipients demonstrate the True Pike ideals, working to improve themselves and having a positive impact on their chapters, campuses, and communities.
Brophy, a senior at the University of Maryland, was nominated for demonstrating superior leadership in his chapter, on campus, and in the community.
On campus, he served as student manager for the University of Maryland varsity lacrosse team. During Brophy’s freshman year, he brought the Great Strides Walk, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest fundraiser, to campus to bring awareness to the condition he and thousands of others suffer from. With this fundraiser, the campus has raised over $140,000 for Cystic Fibrosis research.
In January 2017, he received the CF Star Award from the Metro D.C. Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The award is given to a person with CF who makes an impact in the community.
Brophy previously served his chapter as a member of the recruitment, philanthropy, and finance committees.
He is graduating with a bachelor of arts in economics and will begin his career at SEI Investments Company, a financial services company based right outside of Philadelphia.
