MEMPHIS, TN - Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity is pleased to announce Mike Do (California State-Long Beach, Iota Epsilon ’18) as the July 2019 Pike of the Month. Pike of the Month award recipients demonstrate the True Pike ideals, working to improve themselves and having a positive impact on their chapters, campuses, and communities.

Do, a junior at California State University-Long Beach, was nominated for demonstrating superior leadership in his chapter, on campus, and in the community.

Do currently serves Iota Epsilon Chapter as president. He previously served as secretary and IFC delegate. As president, he has been instrumental in revitalizing the chapter’s philanthropy events and community service efforts. Do has built stronger relationships with other campus organizations and offices, including partnering with the Career Center to bring speakers to chapter meetings. He has also increased the chapter’s overall PIKE University attendance.

Do has maintained a 4.0 GPA and a presence on the Dean’s List. He is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He also serves as a freshman orientation leader.

As head coach of a local high school marching band, Do has led students to state competitions for the first time in the program’s history. He also serves as assistant coach to another band program with a successful record and teaches private music lessons. In addition to coaching and teaching, Do frequently speaks at leadership camps, where he informs students about his time on the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corp, a professional competitive marching band that has won 18 world championships.

Do has raised nearly $1,800 for the Taylor Trudeau Foundation through musical performances. He consistently sets the standard for his chapter by completing over 25 hours of community service each semester.

Do will graduate with a degree in finance. He plans to earn his MBA before pursuing a career in investment banking or stock market analytics. He will continue working in music education in his free time.
