MEMPHIS, TN - Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity is pleased to announce Evan Berkemeyer (Northern Kentucky, Eta Rho ’15) as the January 2019 Pike of the Month. Pike of the Month award recipients demonstrate the True Pike ideals, working to improve themselves and having a positive impact on their chapters, campuses, and communities.

Berkemeyer, a senior at Northern Kentucky University, was nominated for demonstrating superior leadership in his chapter, on campus, and in the community.

Berkemeyer has served his chapter as campus involvement chair, IFC delegate, secretary, and chapter president. As president, he led his chapter to its sixth consecutive Smythe Award, reaching dynasty level for the first time in chapter history. He was influential in revamping the chapter’s continuing education and new member education programs, transitioning from an eight-week new member process to five weeks. His leadership led to a donation of $24,000, the most philanthropic dollars raised in chapter history, to the Alzheimer’s Association of Cincinnati.

In the classroom, he has maintained a 3.5 GPA. On campus, he has served as a student government senator, vice chairman of university improvements, and later as chairman of university improvements.

About his accomplishments, Berkemeyer says, “Andrew Carnegie once said, ‘Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision, the ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.’ I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without the support and help of my Eta Rho Chapter brothers.”

Berkemeyer will graduate with a degree in computer science and plans to pursue a career in software engineering or mobile application development.
