MEMPHIS, TN - Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity is pleased to announce Paxton Crider (Murray State, Epsilon Lambda ’16) as the February 2019 Pike of the Month. Pike of the Month award recipients demonstrate the True Pike ideals, working to improve themselves and having a positive impact on their chapters, campuses, and communities.
Crider, a junior at Murray State University, was nominated for demonstrating superior leadership in his chapter, on campus, and in the community.
On campus, he serves as chairman of the University Judicial Board and is the reigning Homecoming King. In 2017, he was elected Mr. Murray State University as only a sophomore. He has served as SGA senator at-large and vice president of the Gentleman’s Service Club. He is active in the Hardin Baptist Church College Ministry and has served on two mission trips.
In addition to his campus involvement, Crider has maintained a 3.7 GPA and is a three-time member of the College of Business Dean’s List. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma Exclusive Business Honor Society, and Order of Omega. Outside of the classroom, he has completed two consecutive summer internships with Citizens Deposit Bank.
Crider currently serves as chapter president and is PIKE U Gold Certified. He previously served as external vice president, scholarship chairman, as a member of the finance committee, and IFC voting delegate. As scholarship chairman, he implemented a program that improved the new member class GPA to its highest in chapter history. He also organized the chapter’s first Scholarship Luncheon, which has become an annual event with alumni.
About his time in PIKE, Crider says, “I am incredibly grateful for all this Fraternity has done for me and will forever be indebted to it for all it has provided me. I am confident in the future of Pi Kappa Alpha and look forward to what lies ahead.”
Crider will graduate in December with a degree in finance and plans to pursue graduate school.
